Welcome to our Help page! We have set it up in a Question/Answer format. Hope this helps!
Q - What is an intranet? Is it like internet? What's the difference?
A - This is a common question among people who have never heard the word intranet before. As some of you may know, INTERNET means interconnected computer networks, such as the HPS network. The internet is all the networks in the world connected and communicating with each other. Web sites are located on servers in a network, and when you type in www.yahoo.com , for example, your computer finds a route to that server's network, and requests the page. When you communicate through the internet, there are many processes that are occurring in a matter of seconds. Now, as for INTRANET, that means within a network. An intranet is something that's within a network, that cannot be viewed by the outside world (computers and devices not connected to the network). When something is on an intranet, it is most likely only to be used/seen by users of the network.
Q - I'm new to the Sign In procedures? What do I do?
A - Please refer to the Sign In Procedures page by clicking here!
Q - I would like to be able to access my email account from another computer in the building. How can I do this?
A - If you are within the building, you can access your email by clicking on email on the side bar on the intranet. At the logon page, type your username and then you will have to type your username and password. After authorizing, you will see all new email you have received. If you are outside the building, you can check your email by going to www.haledon.org/exchange
Q - Is there a difference between www.haledon.org and the intranet page?
A - Yes, there is. www.haledon.org is our school's website. This page can be seen by parents, teachers or anyone else interested. This page is open to the public and informs them about our school. On the other hand, we need a special page for teachers. For example, we can't show people how to log in to email accounts and how to view lesson plans. Our intranet is not only helpful, but is used for security purposes. Only faculty have access to the intranet.
Q - I would like to add something to the intranet for fellow teachers. How would I be able to do that?
A - All suggestions for our intranet are to be sent to Bill Miller for approval.
